Getting here from Cape Town
Riebeek Kasteel is roughly 80 to 90 kilometres north-east of Cape Town, about an hour's drive in normal traffic. Take the N7 north and turn off towards Malmesbury, then follow the R46 towards Riebeek Kasteel.
The last stretch crosses the Bothmaskloof Pass, a road cut that dates back to the 1700s. As you come over the top the whole valley opens up below you: vineyards, olive groves and the twin villages at the foot of the Kasteelberg.
There are viewpoints and tasting rooms on the pass itself, including Meerhof and Eight Feet Village, so it is easy to break the journey.
Arriving after dark? The village is small and quiet. Parking for guests is on the property, not on the street.
