The Swartland Street Party returns on 7 November

On Saturday 7 November 2026 the Swartland Street Party comes back to Riebeek Kasteel. The village events calendar places it in the heart of town, with producers from across the Swartland pouring their wines, including some you will rarely find anywhere else in South Africa. The event is run by the Swartland Wine & Olive Route.

If earlier editions are a guide, the tasting takes place along Main Street, with the winemakers at their own stands and a band playing. The route's report on the 2024 party named producers such as Mullineux, Testalonga, Sadie Family Wines, Marras and Thor Vintners, and noted that the tasting tickets sold out. In 2025 the ticket included a branded glass, tastings from around 25 Swartland producers, street food and live music, and the day was for over-18s only.

Tickets, prices and the full producer list for 2026 were not yet published on the pages we checked this week, so keep an eye on the Swartland Wine & Olive Route website. In previous years winemaker dinners were held in the village on the Friday night, sold separately; whether they return this year is worth asking the route directly.

The party also falls on a busy village weekend. First Fridays usually runs on the first Friday of the month from 17:00 to 20:00, which would be Friday 6 November, and the Riebeek Valley Village Market is held on the first Saturday from 09:30 to 14:00, opposite Kasteel Motors. Confirm both closer to the time, as dates can shift.

A day of tasting is best done on foot. Plan your transport before you arrive, drink plenty of water and leave the car where it is until the next morning.

Staying in the village for the weekend means the market, the party and a slow Sunday breakfast are all close at hand, and Huis Agt has room for two to ten guests across Goud, Silwer and Groen.
