The two churches of Riebeek Kasteel
Riebeek Kasteel has two church buildings that matter to its story. The old Dutch Reformed church, built in 1856, now houses the Riebeek Valley Museum on Kerk Street.
The newer church, with its tall spire, is the landmark you see from the vineyards and the pass. On Sunday mornings its bells ring across the village.
Many of the village's oldest houses, Victorian and Edwardian, are within a few streets of the two churches.
Our heritage walk from Huis Agt passes both. Take the route in the late afternoon, when the white walls glow.
