Park the car: a village you can walk
Many Winelands stays mean driving to everything: dinner, coffee, a bottle of milk. In Riebeek Kasteel most of what you need is a short walk away.
From Huis Agt you can stroll to the village square, the Royal Hotel, the galleries on and around Plein Street, antique shops, bakeries and more than a dozen restaurants. The village is small enough to learn in an afternoon.
Walking also solves the evening problem. After a long dinner with good wine, nobody needs to be the designated driver. On First Fridays, when the village stays open late, walking from shop to shop is the whole point.
Keep the car for the wine farms, the trails and day trips. For everything else, put on comfortable shoes and go out of the door.
