Five lunches with a view
The Barn on Kerk Street cooks Mediterranean food on a terrace that looks down the valley. It is our first suggestion for a long first lunch.
Eight Feet Village on the Bothmaskloof Pass has two restaurants with sweeping views: Die Deck, casual and busy at weekends, and Mura, more formal.
Marras in Riebeek West serves lunch in a converted stable next to its tasting room. Meerhof, high on the pass, is better known for tasting than eating, but the view alone is worth the stop.
For something simpler, take a picnic to Kringe in 'n Bos at Kloovenburg, open Friday to Sunday and on public holidays, with a playground for children.
