An artists' village

Riebeek Kasteel has long attracted creative people: painters, potters, writers and designers who came for the light, the space and the pace.

You can see their work all year in the village galleries, including Gallery 7 on Plein and Gallery Riebeek Kasteel opposite the Royal Hotel, and at Môi Art on Fontein Street. In Riebeek West, the Blacksmith Yard combines making and showing.

Once a year the Solo Studios festival opens dozens of studios to the public. Its tenth edition in October 2026 involved more than sixty artists.

Outside the festival, several artists welcome visitors by appointment. Ask in the galleries; people here are generous with introductions.
