An afternoon of antiques and décor

Many people who move to Riebeek Kasteel seem to bring a houseful of interesting things, and plenty of it ends up in the village shops.

Crystal & Twine on the main road is a warehouse of French-inspired décor and gifts. Roes mixes vintage, art deco and eclectic pieces for house and garden. Wunderkammer on Kloof Street, as the name promises, is a cabinet of curiosities: vintage furniture and quirky décor.

Short Street, opposite the Royal Hotel, is a purpose-built square of small shops selling clothing, oils and skincare, leather goods and boots.

Most shops are closed or keep short hours early in the week, so leave your browsing for Thursday to Sunday.
