Riebeek Kasteel is a fine destination in itself, and it is also a good base for exploring further.

Tulbagh, with its historic Church Street, is about 45 minutes away. Darling and the flower country of the West Coast are under an hour. Paternoster and its fishing-village coast are about ninety minutes northwest, and Paarl and Wellington are both within an easy drive.

Because the house has full kitchens and private outdoor spaces, it is pleasant to come back to after a long day out: a swim, a braai and a quiet evening.
