Walking the Kloovenburg trails

Kloovenburg sits at the entrance to the village, between the Kasteelberg and the Riebeekberg. It is one of two estates in the valley that were granted land in 1704 and are still farmed today.

The farm has marked walking trails. The Olive Route is about 1.8 kilometres and takes an hour. The Mountain Route is about 3.8 kilometres, around two hours, and climbs the lower slopes for a view back over the village. There is also a third, longer trail.

Check in at the tasting room first: you sign an indemnity form and get a map.

Walk early, then taste the wines in the old cellar, buy a bottle of the estate's olive oil, and you have a very good morning.
